Arsenal are keen to tie down Bukayo Saka to a lucrative new contract, according to reports in the English media.

The 20-year-old was linked with Liverpool before he signed his last extension back in 2019 and it is thought that the interest from the Reds hasn’t gone away.

Journalist Ian McGarry even went as far as to say that Saka “would be interested” in making the switch to Anfield back in December, although the accuracy of his claims are questionable.

What’s not in question, though, is that Arsenal do have the means to offer Saka a bumper new deal. They have cut their wage bill significantly over the last couple of years, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sead Kolasinac, David Luiz, Willian and Mesut Ozil having all left the Emirates.

Whether Saka is seriously considering leaving the Gunners to pursue other opportunities, it is not known, but his stance on Arsenal’s contract proposal will give us a good indication as to where his future lies.
