Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker put in a man-of-the-match display as he helped the Reds secure a vital three points against Crystal Palace yesterday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp’s men started the game well at Selhurst Park, going 2-0 up in the first half, but their opponents put them under severe pressure as the game wore on.
Alisson made a number of top drawer saves to ensure Liverpool got the win. When one fan on Twitter said that the Brazilian was the best keeper in the league, many others suggested he may be the best in the world:

It is a big statement from Reds supporters and, while the stats show that the Brazilian international is having a great season, he isn’t currently the most in-form shot-stopper in the English top-flight.
If we look at post-shot xG against, which shows how well a keeper is performing compared to the shots they face, Manchester United’s David De Gea is top with +9.8. Wolves’ Jose Sa is second on +6.3 while Alisson makes it into third (+2.8).
FIFA’s goalkeeper of the year, Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy is quite a way down the list (+0.7), Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale is on +0.5, while Manchester City’s Ederson is on -1.7, demonstrating his clean sheet record this season can be attributed mainly to the defence in front of him.
