BT Sport Pundit Names The Player That Has Surpassed Andy Robertson As The “Best Left Back In The Country”

Owen Hargreaves firmly believes that Manchester United‘s Luke Shaw is the best left-back playing in England at the moment.

The BT Sport pundit thinks the England international has surpassed Liverpool’s Andy Robertson on current form this season:

“He’s the best left-back in the country. Last year it was Andy Robertson, now it’s Luke Shaw. If he’s fit and healthy, he’s one of the best he’s proved that.”

It’s a bold claim from Hargreaves but he doesn’t really consider other names who could be in the frame. Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney is highly rated by Gunners fans, while Lucas Digne consistently puts in strong performances for Everton.

Up until recent months, Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell has also been playing well, while the likes of Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko and Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon haven’t had bad seasons either.

There can be no arguing that Robertson has gone off the boil this campaign, having bagged just five assists in 29 league appearances, but that is still the same number that Shaw has managed. While Hargreaves is entitled to his opinion, it won’t be shared by many Liverpool supporters.
