Danny Murphy Names His Three Best Premier League Signings Of The Summer So Far

BBC pundit Danny Murphy has singled out Darwin Nunez, Gabriel Jesus and Sven Botman as the three best additions that Premier League clubs have made so far in the summer transfer window.

Murphy believes Arsenal will get their money’s worth by splashing out £45m on Jesus, while both Botman and Nunez are exciting young talents who could excel in English football:

“I like the Jesus signing for Arsenal, I’m a big fan of Jesus. I think being a bigger fish in a smaller pond and playing as a number nine and having the team being built around him will benefit him. I think he could be a brilliant signing for Arsenal… I think the centre half Newcastle have signed, Botman, is a good player. I think the fans are really going to enjoy him. He’s somebody I’ve seen a fair bit of, he’s a footballing centre half, loves coming out with the ball and a good passer of the ball… Of course from a Liverpool point of view, the Darwin Nunez signing is something everybody is excited by, his energy and his physicality and that little bit of an old-fashioned number nine, everybody is looking forward to seeing him link up with Salah and Diaz and Jota.”

In terms of Nunez, Murphy is obviously correct to be excited about the Uruguayan joining the Reds but no supporter should be under any illusion that the signing comes with risk attached to it.

The 23-year-old is coming off an excellent scoring season in Portugal and he is a player with a lot of potential, but there are no guarantees that he will hit the ground running in the Premier League.

However, with Jurgen Klopp as his manager, Nunez has the perfect man to help him get the most out of his undoubted talent.
