Five Of The Best Signings Liverpool Have Made Under Jurgen Klopp

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool have hardly put a foot wrong under manager Jurgen Klopp in the transfer market. Although not all the credit should go to the German, with an excellent recruitment team behind him, it is no coincidence that the club have made more successful dealings since the former Borussia Dortmund’s boss arrival in 2015.

There has been the odd misstep, such as Loris Karius, but all the key decisions on signings have come off over the past four and half years.

With so many players to choose from, it was hard to decide on which of the 14 purchases to include in this list.

Press the next page as we look at five of Klopp’s most successful signings since becoming Liverpool boss.

Virgil van Dijk

The £75m Liverpool spent on the Dutchman in January 2018 now looks like an absolute bargain. In the past two years, he has developed into the world’s best centre-back.

Van Dijk’s composure has given the Liverpool backline much needed security and he has been a vital part of the Reds’ success in recent seasons.

Andy Robertson

The £8m spent on the left-back must be one of the best bargains in the club’s history. The Scottish international compliments Trent Alexander-Arnold on the opposite flank, providing lethal deliveries into the box.

Robertson has developed int a world-class fullback, both defensively and offensively, and his progress has probably even surprised Klopp.

Mo Salah

70 goals in 100 league appearances kind of says it all. The Egyptian is now one of the world’s best forwards and he is certainly paid back the initial €42m the Reds shelled out on him many times over.

Salah is still only 27 years of age, and Liverpool fans will be hoping he sticks around for a few more years as he looks to break more records.

Georginio Wijnaldum

We could have easily gone for Fabinho or Alisson, but the Dutchman’s ability to adapt to any midfield role is massively underrated.

Wijnaldum has hardly missed a game since he arrived, and despite being signed as an attacking midfielder, he has evolved into something quite different. The midfielder breaks up attacks, keeps hold of the ball and makes sure he shields the defence from danger.

Sadio Mane

Some questioned the purchase of the Senegalese international in 2016 but the forward has exceeded expectations since joining from Southampton.

The £34m that Liverpool paid has certainly been money well spent, with Mane having scored 77 goals in 160 appearances for the Reds.
