Gary Lineker Singles Out One Liverpool Player For His Performance Against Arsenal

Anfield Stadium

Former England international Gary Lineker was full of praise for the impact that Diogo Jota made on the game after he came on for the final ten minutes of Liverpool’s victory against Arsenal last night.

The £45m summer signing from Wolves scored on his Premier League debut, sealing a deserved 3-1 home win, and Lineker suggests the Portuguese international will go on to have a good career with the Reds:

There is competition for places up front now Jota has been signed. Sadio Mane looked frustrated about coming off when he was replaced by the new acquisition, and that competitive edge should hold the team in good stead going forward.

With Takumi Minamino also pushing Roberto Firmino for his place in the centre forward position, there will certainly be no chance of complacency in terms of the front three feeling secure in their positions in the starting eleven. Healthy competition can only be a good thing.
