Gerrard Believes Klopp Already Knows When He Will Be Leaving Liverpool

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes Reds boss Jurgen Klopp may already know when he will leave Anfield despite recently putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Merseyside club.

The German signed a contract extension late last year, keeping him at the European champions until 2024. However, Gerrard thinks Klopp has a roadmap laid out, and he doesn’t think he would leave the same way Alex Ferguson left Manchester United:

“I think Fergie knew that he could see the creaking signs and it would need another cycle comes back around. As we are seeing now, it might be a longer job than people thought. I don’t think Jurgen would do that at Liverpool. I think he will already know now when he is going to go.”

Klopp has always left clubs on his own terms. He spent the best part of seven years at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund before leaving, and if he reaches the end of his contract at Liverpool, he would have lasted nine and a half years at the Reds.

Of course, circumstances can change and he may leave earlier than anticipated, but Gerrard could be hinting at a succession plan. The former Liverpool captain recently signed a contract extension at Rangers keeping him at the Scottish club until 2024 with many not believing it was a coincidence.
