‘Give The Man A Contract’ ‘Wouldn’t Expect Anything Less’ Liverpool Fans React As Klopp Reveals What Salah Told Him After AFCON Return

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said Mo Salah is keen to play in the Reds’ next match against Leicester on Thursday evening.

The Egyptian has only just returned from Cameroon where he lost the African Cup of Nations final to Senegal on Sunday, but Klopp says the 29-year-old is ready to get back on the pitch as soon as possible:

“Mo is now back, I spoke already to him. He is very disappointed of course, but looking forward to all the things coming up here now. I spoke to him and pretty much the first thing Mo told me was: ‘I’m ready.’ Haha! He is an experienced player, he is a physical monster, to be honest, so we have to see. He will obviously have a little recovery session today and we will see how he feels tomorrow and from there we go.”

Salah’s determination to return to play for his club has, unsurprisingly, gone down well with fans on Twitter, who have been praising his professionalism:

As some supporters have pointed out, the fact that Salah lost at the weekend may make him even more determined to win things at club level. The way Egypt lost on penalties, without Salah getting a kick in the shootout, would have made it doubly frustrating, and he may want to take his anger out on the pitch. Whether he’ll start the Leicester clash later this week, we shall have to wait and see.
