Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher wants the club to bring back Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
Despite manager Jurgen Klopp appearing to rule out a move for the Brazilian playmaker, the former Reds defender, turned TV pundit, thinks the Merseyside club should try and bring him back:
“I said it before, I’d love to see Liverpool bring back Coutinho back if that was possible in any way. Obviously, it hasn’t worked out for him at Barcelona. I just think that would be a great addition.”
It appears that finances may be playing a big part in Liverpool opting against a move for Coutinho.
The 27-year-old is seemingly available this summer with Barca having already signed Antoine Griezmann, while they are also keen on re-signing Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
There has been talk that Coutinho could be used as a makeweight in the deal for Neymar but it appears PSG are looking for a straight cash offer.
It could leave the midfielder in a tricky situation. Very few clubs could afford the Brazilian international’s transfer fee and wages, but he’s unlikely to be a regular at the Camp Nou next season.
Could a loan deal be on the cards, and would Liverpool be interested? We shall have to wait and see.
