Liverpool are interested in Lille midfielder Renato Sanches and will challenge Arsenal for the Portuguese international, according to reports in the French media.

The 23-year-old had an excellent European Championships before Portugal were knocked out by Belgium, and fans on Twitter are hoping the Reds can beat their rivals to his signature:

More reliable sources in the UK do believe that Sanches is being considered by Liverpool’s recruitment department but he is not the only name on the list.

Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus, Ajax’s Ryan Gravenberch and Aston Villa’s John McGinn are also said to have been targeted by the Merseyside club.

Sanches is likely to be the cheapest option, though, as while Lille will be in the Champions League next season, the Ligue One champions are working within a limited budget and they could be open to selling the midfielder for the right price this summer.
