“He’s The Worst…” TalkSPORT Pundit Slams Liverpool Star As He Draws Comparisons To Reece James And Kyle Walker

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has criticised Liverpool fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold following his performance against Manchester United on Monday night.

The 23-year-old has had a difficult start to the season, and Bent did not hold back with his comments, stating he cannot understand why people feel he is a better player than either Chelsea’s Reece James or Manchester City‘s Kyle Walker:

“My goodness. Wow. People will keep banging that drum that he’s better than Reece James and Kyle Walker. Absolutely not. Out of those three, he’s the worst, and unfortunately last night it’s almost like they picked on him.”

There is no doubt that James and Walker are in better form than Alexander-Arnold at the moment but Bent’s remarks do go too far. You only have to look at the stats to see what an outstanding player the Liverpool defender is.

The right-back has averaged a goal or assist every three games since turning professional. If you contrast that with James (whose average is every five matches) and Walker (every 8.7 games), there really is no comparison.

Of course, some may argue that defending is more of a priority as a fullback but Alexander-Arnold has shown with his past performances that any deficiencies in that area are more than compensated by his attacking output.
