Liverpool considered three alternatives to Kostas Tsimikas before making their move for the Olympiakos left-back, according to reports in the local media.
Norwich’s Jamal Lewis was seriously considered before the Reds were priced out by the Canaries, as was Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, but the most surprising name on the list was Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with Chelsea over the past week and most fans on Twitter don’t think the fullback would have considered moving to Anfield anyway as he wouldn’t have settled for being the backup to Andy Robertson:
I think he’s better

Reguillon obviously is but he is good enough to start for most clubs

Reguilon would have wanted first team tho

And would be double the money if not more.

Reguilon is too good to be back up, he would never accept being on the bench. He's good enough to start in title winning teams, he's that good.

Just dont tell Chelsea ?

As a back up? Very highly unlikely.

He would never take a back up role coz he has a lot more top teams offering him a starter role ???

It’s quite clear that Lewis was Liverpool’s first choice but sporting director Michael Edwards is not one for spending over a player’s value, and the decision was made to go after Tsimikas instead.
The Greek international is expected to complete a £11.75m move to the Reds this week, with the player flying to England to have a medical before the transfer is rubberstamped.
