Liverpool are laying the groundwork ahead of a potential summer bid for West Ham captain Declan Rice, according to reports in the English media
The Reds are expected to join the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United in the battle to snap up the England international, who has been capped 34 times by his country.
There has been a mixed reaction to the Merseyside club’s reported interest in Rice with supporters on Twitter questioning the player’s sky high valuation:
I'll believe it when I see it

It is believed that Rice will cost in excess of £100m, which is an eye-watering figure for a midfielder who lacks experience of playing at the highest level in club football.
The 23-year-old would certainly add some much-needed energy and dynamism to Liverpool’s midfield, and he has a decent passing range too, but there are likely to be better options on the market who are available for a lower price.
