Insider Confirms Liverpool “Are Much Further Down The Line” Than West Ham In Race For 34 Goal Striker

Liverpool are in pole position to sign Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka this summer, according to ExWHUemployee.

The West Ham insider, who is usually very reliable when it comes to transfer stories relating to the Hammers, says reports that the London club are leading the race for the Zambian international were wide of the mark. He instead claimed the Reds were the most advanced in their attempts to snap up the player:

“Whilst there has always been an interest in Patson Daka and he was someone that we [West Ham] have scouted and enquired about in the past, I believe talk of him joining the club is premature One good thing that we have in our favour is that his agent is former Hammer Freddie Kanoute who loved his time at the club and would encourage a move. Whilst we are meant to be keen on the player I believe there are other clubs, including Liverpool, who are much further down the line with this potential signing.”

ExWHUemployee‘s remarks do tally with claims made by Spanish newspaper Marca earlier this week, who said that Liverpool were the firm favourites for Daka ahead of other clubs, including Manchester United.

Arsenal have also been mentioned as contenders but it seems Jurgen Klopp’s side have made the first move. The 22-year-old scored 34 goals in 42 games for Salzburg last season, with it being reported that the Austrian club may demand as much as £25m for the forward’s signature.
