Inter Milan Star Makes Transfer Decision After Contacts With Liverpool And United

Inter Milan centre-back Stefan de Vrij has decided to stay with the Serie A club despite Liverpool and Manchester United’s interest, according to FCInternews.it.

The Italian website claims that both Premier League clubs enquired about the defender’s availability with his agent Mino Raiola but the 28-year-old is “happy” at the San Siro and is keen on signing a new contract.

De Vrij is one of the many centre-halves that have been linked with a move to Anfield, with the Reds currently having no fit senior centre-backs in the first-team squad.

Joel Matip suffered a back spasm in the 1-1 draw against Fulham on Sunday, meaning that either Nat Phillips or Rhys Williams may well have to partner Fabinho in the middle of defence for the top of the table clash against Tottenham tomorrow night.

With Jurgen Klopp’s options being so limited, it appears the club’s recruitment team are scouting potential defenders, although it seems de Vrij won’t be the one making the switch to Merseyside.
