Italian Starlet Barella “Proud” To Be Linked With Clubs Like Liverpool

Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella has responded to speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Liverpool and Arsenal are said to be interested in the Italian international, while Italian sides Juventus, Roma and Inter Milan are also believed to be keen on the player.

Barella says he is happy that teams are keeping tabs on him but he is focused on performing for his current club in Serie A:

“I’m not the one who sorts out the transfers. It’s the agents, presidents and clubs who do that. I only think about Cagliari and to stay up in the league. We’ll see about the rest. The interest from big clubs is pleasing and makes me proud. It means I’m doing the right things.”

Barella is reportedly valued at €50m (£44m) by Cagliari, and his stock is certainly rising fast. At just 21 years of age, he has already captained his club side on three occasions this season.

His performances in the league also led to him being given his senior international debut by Italy manager Roberto Mancini. He started the 1-1 friendly draw against Ukraine last week and played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Poland in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.
