John Terry Claims There Are 2 Reasons Why Liverpool Will Pose A Bigger Threat To Chelsea Than City In The Title Race

Ex-Chelsea captain John Terry believes Liverpool’s lethal attack and the presence of Virgil van Dijk will make them the biggest threat to his former team in the race for the title.

When asked whether the Reds or Manchester City are more likely to challenge Chelsea, Terry said that the Reds have a lot going for them:

“Out of the two, I have to say Liverpool look a threat. I just think they have got so many goals going forward. Defensively I look at Van Dijk and think, I am not sure who gets past him. We all have an off day, which he will, but at the same time they look very solid.”

You wouldn’t exactly describe Liverpool as “solid”, considering they have conceded two or more goals on four occasions in the Premier League so far this season.

However, Terry clearly has massive admiration for van Dijk and he believes the Dutchman will be critical to the Reds’ chances of finishing top of the table.

Liverpool’s goal threat, though, cannot be disputed. They are averaging 2.91 goals per match at the moment and, if they continue on that trajectory, they would get 110 goals over the course of this campaign. Whether they will get that many, we shall see, but they have been seriously impressive, in the final third of the pitch at least.
