John Terry Delivers Warning On Virgil Van Dijk’s Injury Comeback

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has warned that it may take some time for Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk to get back to his best following a long injury layoff.

The Dutchman helped keep a clean sheet as he played the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday evening but, speaking ahead of the game, Terry said that ACL injuries can be difficult to recover from:

“It’s a big injury. I think it’s going to take time and settle. I hope not. I hope I’m wrong on that but I think he’ll need bleeding into that team and managed throughout the team.”

While van Dijk did start against Norwich, fans probably shouldn’t expect him to play every game over the coming weeks and months as the club’s medical staff manage his fitness.

Whether Terry is right, and it will take time for him to find his best form, we shall see. Luckily, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has a wealth of options available to him at centre-back now, with the likes of Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate all ready to step in.
