Journalist Claims It’s “No Secret” That 97M Rated Defender Would Be Open To Liverpool Switch

RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol is keen on joining Liverpool, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

The German journalist claims it’s “no secret” that the Croatian would like to make a move to Anfield, having already revealed that he was a boyhood fan of the club, so it is a situation to keep an eye on:

“I think it’s getting interesting in terms of what Liverpool and Chelsea are doing. Gvardiol has made no secret of the fact that his favourite club as a child was Liverpool and that he was always dreaming of moving there. When we see what is happening at Liverpool at the moment, it’s clear they need players in this position.”

It is believed that Leipzig may demand as much as €110m (£97m) for Gvardiol, which would smash Liverpool’s transfer record so, even though the defender may be interested in joining the Reds, it seems like an unlikely transfer at the moment.

Unless FSG sell up and a swift takeover takes place, you can’t see the owners splashing out so much money on one player; especially if the club are also looking to snap up Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

In addition to Liverpool and Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Manchester United have been mentioned as potential suitors for Gvardiol as well. We shall have to wait and see who is prepared to meet Leipzig’s asking price.
