Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made signing Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio “a priority for next summer” according to OK Diario.
The website claims that the Reds are keen on snapping up the Spaniard, who has 34 caps for his country, on a free transfer.
Asensio’s current deal expires in June and talks have stalled over a contract extension so it’s looking increasingly likely that the player will leave the Bernabeu.
Arsenal and Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the 26-year-old in recent months but OK Diario claim that Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus are expected to be Liverpool’s main rivals for the player’s signature.
Asensio has barely featured for Real in the league this campaign, having made just one start, but he has looked impressive in the Champions League, and Spain manager Luis Enrique has made the forward a key part of his World Cup squad, having played him in all three group matches so far.
