Liverpool vice-captain James Milner missed the 2-0 win against Burnley at the weekend due to a knock and he remains a doubt for the Chelsea game at Anfield this weekend.

The Reds’ only other fitness concern is Kostas Tsimikas who had to be substituted on Saturday after picking up a shoulder problem. If he isn’t 100% fit, it would allow Andy Robertson to return to the starting eleven. The Scotland captain has missed the first two matches of the season with an ankle injury.

Fabinho’s participation against Chelsea is unlikely. The Brazilian is currently on compassionate leave and he will be given all the time he needs before he decides to return to action.

However, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should be back in contention after being absent for the Burnley victory to be at the birth of his first child.

Jordan Henderson got his first start of the season against the Clarets, so his match sharpness is improving, while Thiago also got his first minutes of the new campaign, coming on for the final ten minutes in place of Naby Keita.
