Latest Liverpool Injury Report: Updates On Thiago, Milner, Shaqiri And Van Dijk

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is expected to be back in first-team training sometime this week. Before the Crystal Palace game, manager Jurgen Klopp said he hoped to see the Spaniard in a session soon if he passes some fitness tests on his knee which he injured in the Merseyside derby.

James Milner (hamstring) is also thought to be close to a return. The 34-year-old limped off during the 1-1 draw against Brighton last month. Xherdan Shaqiri is nearing full fitness as well with the Swiss international having not featured since the Manchester City game at the Etihad before the last international break.

Virgil van Dijk has shared footage of himself in rehabilitation, doing some light ball work, but it remains to be seen whether he is scheduled to return earlier than expected from an ACL.

Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota are both likely to be back at the start of February after suffering similar knee injuries in the draw against FC Midtjylland. Joe Gomez remains out for the long term with his own knee issue.
