There have been suggestions that Barcelona could well consider a swoop for Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldium with Ronald Koeman as the Catalan club’s manager.
The Dutchman is known to be a fan of the Reds star, having worked with him in his role as the Netherlands’ head coach. With Wijnaldum within the final year of his contract at Anfield, some have been putting two and two together.
Were Wijnaldum to leave this summer, it would then pave the way for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara to make the switch to Liverpool. Supporters on Twitter have been discussing whether such a scenario is realistic:
Let's just confirm Thiago now. Gini's going to Barca probs now

Knowing us we'll let him go on a free next year and then get Thiago on a free

Said this to a mate earlier. Gini plays a much more attacking role under Koeman for the Dutch national side and has thrived doing it. Can see him being tempted by a new challenge in a new league with perhaps a better role. Be sad to see him go, we'd miss him, more than u think.

As much as I hate to see him go, I think we have enough replacements (Ox,Curtis,Kieta,)already and if we do get Thiago it will be fair deal but I would love to have both

Why would he wanna go barca anyways ???

This is pure speculation at this stage. Koeman hasn’t even been officially announced as Barca’s next manager and fans are already debating whether Wijnaldum will link up with him.
One thing to bear in mind is the fact that the Reds midfielder is 29, and Barcelona are believed to be very keen on reducing the age of their squad, which would suggest the Dutchman would not be a viable target.
