Liverpool And Arsenal Vying To Sign Villa Teenage Sensation Who Gerrard Predicts Will Become “A Big Player”

Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, according to reports in England.

The teenager has a year left on his contract at Villa Park and he has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, leaving doubts over his future at the club.

Manager Steven Gerrard spoke out about Chukwuemeka’s situation back in May, stating that he was hopeful that the 18-year-old would stay, claiming that the player has massive potential:

“Hopefully, he is going to be a big player for Aston Villa. We want him to stay here long-term. We believe this is the best place for Carney. I hope that situation progresses in a positive way.”

Chukwuemeka made 14 appearances for the Villans last season, but he only made three starts, with Gerrard and previous head coach Dean Smith preferring to use another Villa academy graduate, Jacob Ramsey, more often.

There are question marks over whether Ramsey’s presence could hinder Chukwuemeka’s development, and it’s likely that he will wait to see how often he features next campaign before he makes a decision on whether to sign a contract extension.
