Liverpool And Everton Set To Battle For £27m Rated Ligue One Stopper

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool and Everton are competing for Marseille defender Boubacar Kamara, according to reports in the French media.

While the Toffees are believed to have prioritised a move for the 20-year-old, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side said to have already offered €25m (£23m) for the player, the Reds see him as an alternative to Kalidou Koulibaly.

It is thought that the Senegalese international’s price tag and competition from Manchester City may lead Liverpool to switch targets to Kamara instead.

Marseille are reportedly reluctant to sell the France Under 21 international but their financial situation may mean they will accept a bid if they receive one in excess of €30m (£27m).

Whether the Reds can finance such a move, it does seem doubtful, considering Tom Werner’s recent comments, but if Dejan Lovren were to depart this summer, a replacement would be needed.

Everton’s involvement will certainly complicate matters, though, if they do decide to up their initial offer and match Marseille’s valuation.
