Liverpool ‘Bullish’ About Signing World Record Deal After New ‘Talks’ Are Held

Liverpool are “bullish” about securing a world record sponsorship deal after holding “talks” with current shirt sponsors Standard Chartered, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports last week suggested that the Reds may be considering their options as the £40m a year deal with the multinational bank was set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season.

It was believed that a number of firms, including Bitcoin companies, were being looked at as potential new sponsors, but the Mail claim there is now a growing likelihood that Standard Chartered will agree to double their current payment to £80m.

Part of the reason is that Liverpool believe they now have the biggest selling home shirt in world football, with the 2021/22 kit having surpassed 2million in sales.

If the Reds do receive £80m a year, it would be the biggest deal of its kind in world football. Real Madrid currently earn the most (£70m), with Manchester United (£47m), Barcelona (£47m), Paris Saint-Germain (£43m) and Chelsea (£40m) making up the rest of the top five.
