Liverpool Confirm That They Have Re Signed Title Winning Defender

Liverpool Women have re-signed centre-back Gemma Bonner from Racing Louisville FC, the club have confirmed.

The 31-year-old spent six years at the Reds during her first spell with the club, captaining the Merseyside club to two successive Women’s Super League titles in 2013 and 2014.

Bonner left Anfield in 2018, when she joined Manchester City, going on to win four more trophies at the Citizens before her move to the United States at the start of last year.

The defender has decided to return to the team who she supported growing up, linking up with manager Matt Beard once again.

Whether the combination of Bonner and Beard will be as successful second time around, we shall have to wait and see. Liverpool currently sit ninth in the WSL table, having won just two of their first nine fixtures following their promotion from the Championship. They face Manchester United in their first game after the winter break on January 15th.
