Liverpool Handed Difficult Chelsea Tie As FA Cup Draw Is Made

Liverpool will take on holders Chelsea in the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup.

While the Reds did record a shock win over the Blues on the opening day of the WSL season, it will still be a tall order for Matt Beard‘s team, who will be making the trip to London for the tie.

With the FA Cup match being played on January 28th, it means Liverpool will have to face Chelsea in back-to-back matches, with the second WSL fixture scheduled for January 22nd.

The Reds have never won the FA Cup, with the closest they’ve come being the three consecutive finals they managed in the mid-nineties.

Even when they won two WSL titles under Beard back in 2013 and 2014, the furthest they managed to go was the semi-finals. With a difficult draw against Chelsea, it’s hard to see them going deep into the competition this campaign but stranger things have happened.
