Liverpool Handed Major Transfer Boost As “Magnificant” Midfielder’s Price Tag Is Cut By 20M

Brighton will allow Moises Caicedo to leave for a fee of around £65m, including add-ons, according to reports in the UK.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle have all been credited with an interest in the Ecuadorian international but, up until now, the Seagulls have been holding out for £85m.

It is not known why Caicedo’s price tag has dropped but the news will be welcomed by Jurgen Klopp’s side who see the 21-year-old as one of their main alternatives to Jude Bellingham.

While the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is the Reds’ number one target, he is expected to cost in excess of £100m, so cheaper options are also being looked at.

Caicedo has only been a first team regular at Brighton for less than a year, but former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp believes the midfielder possesses all the skills to be a top player:

“He has been magnificent. He possesses all the attributes to play really well in every area. He’s a brilliant tackler, the timing has to be spot on with the modern game. You get it wrong, you get booked, you’re on a knife edge for the rest of the game.”

Caicedo’s asking price, therefore, makes him a tempting target so we shall see if the Reds do make their move in the coming weeks and months.
