Liverpool have “contacted” the agent of Sao Paulo attacking midfielder Igor Gomes, according to Esporte Interativo. The Brazilian website claim the Reds have asked for more information about the 21-year-old’s situation.
However, the Merseyside club are not the only team keen on the playmaker with “several other clubs” in Europe keeping tabs on the player, including Ajax.
It is believed that no official bids have been made for Gomes yet, though, who has very limited experience of first-team football.
The Brazilian Under 23 international made his senior debut for Sao Paulo back in November 2018, in a 0-0 draw against Sport Recife, and he has been a regular starter for just one season.
Gomes made 27 appearances in Brazil’s Serie A last campaign, scoring two goals and providing two assists. His only two appearances this year have been in the Copa Libertadores, scoring once in the 3-0 win over Ecuadorian club LDU Quito back in March.
