Liverpool Have Lodged £22m Bid For 24 Year Old With Two Loan Spell Being Planned

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool have tabled a €25m (£22m) bid for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to reports in the Turkish media.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with the Reds in the past year and it would be wise to take this claim from Turkey with a large pinch of salt.

However, there is a bit more detail to this story than usual. Liverpool are said to be prepared to let Cakir go on loan for two years in order to aid his development as a keeper.

The Turkish international does not want to move to Anfield if he is number two, which he will be under Alisson Becker, so it is thought that a temporary move away from England would satisfy his demands.

Probably the biggest question mark over this story, though, is whether the Reds would shell out £22m on a player they have no intention of playing straight away. Considering the current financial climate, that does seem improbable.
