Liverpool are one of five clubs who have taken a keen interest in Bournemouth winger David Brooks, according to Sky Sports.

The news channel claims the Reds have joined the likes of Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham and Leicester in the race for the Wales international.

Brooks spent most of last season on the treatment table due to a serious ankle injury but he returned to fitness following the restart and has impressed visiting scouts. It was thought that Bournemouth’s relegation to the Championship would have prompted a transfer scramble for the former Sheffield United player but no formal bids have been made for the 23-year-old.

Liverpool’s interest is not surprising as they have been linked with a couple of other wingers this summer, such as Watford’s Ismaila Sarr and Wolves’ Adama Traore.

However, the position doesn’t appear to be a priority with the club likely to be focusing their efforts on recruiting Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara and a possible replacement for Dejan Lovren.
