Liverpool Sent Scout To Watch £26M Rated French Ace Score Four Goals At The Weekend

Liverpool had a scout in the stands as Montpellier forward Elye Wahi scored four goals in his team’s 5-4 defeat to Lyon on Sunday, according to reports in France.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a number of different clubs in England, Italy, and Germany in recent months, with Arsenal, Tottenham, AC Milan, Napoli, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund having all taken a keen interest in him.

However, it appears that Jurgen Klopp’s side have also entered the race for Wahi’s signature. Observers would undoubtedly have been impressed with his performance at the weekend, and it is believed that the player is interested in leaving Montpellier this summer.

Reports suggest that the France Under 21 international would cost at least €30m (£26m) but that seems to be a pretty reasonable price for someone who has scored more than Neymar and Lionel Messi in Ligue One this campaign.

Whether the Reds actually need another striker, though, it is up for debate. Roberto Firmino is leaving Anfield at the end of the season so that may open up space for Wahi, but we shall see how this transfer story develops.
