Liverpool ‘Seriously Considering’ Signing £30M Rated Midfield General With ‘Informal Talks’ Set To Be Held

Liverpool are “seriously considering” making an offer for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski with “informal talks” about signing the player on the agenda, according to Meczyki.

The Polish website claims that manager Jurgen Klopp is weighing up reviving his interest in the 28-year-old, who he first tried to sign for the Reds seven years ago.

Zielinski was heavily linked with a move to Anfield during Klopp’s first summer at the club back in 2016, but he eventually made the switch to Napoli instead.

Although he has just recently won the Serie A title with the Italian club, the Polish international has just a year left on his contract and Meczyki report that he could be sold for around £30m.

As well as targeting expensive signings, such as Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds also need to supplement these purchases with cheaper additions, especially in midfield, where they are expected to lose Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner. Zielinski is, therefore, seen as an inexpensive option.

West Ham and Newcastle have been mentioned as potential suitors for Zielinski in the past twelve months so Liverpool may have to see off rivals to secure his signature, but it appears the interest from the Merseyside club is genuine.
