Liverpool have been “offered” Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, according to Get French Football News.

The website claims that representatives of the player have made the Reds aware of the Belgian international’s availability.

However, at this stage, it doesn’t seem as if Jurgen Klopp’s side will be making a move for Lokonga, with the club focused on other targets. Considering the midfielder’s performances since arriving in England, that is not a complete surprise.

The 23-year-old joined the Gunners from Anderlecht for £17m in the summer of 2021 but he has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates.

In the second half of last season, Lokonga was loaned out to Crystal Palace to get more game time but, following the appointment of Roy Hodgson as manager in March, he barely got a look in.

Both Burnley (who are managed by former Anderlecht boss Vincent Kompany) and Brighton have been mentioned as potential suitors for the Belgian.

However, with just days remaining before the transfer window closes, Lokonga has not found a new team and it appears his agents have started offering him to potential suitors.

While the Reds may have no interest in recruiting Lokonga, the Merseyside club remain on the lookout for new additions.

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure are thought to be the two main targets, but both deals are expected to be complicated.

At the moment, Bayern have still not given the green light to sell Gravenberch, despite the player himself reportedly requesting a transfer.

A move for Doucoure could be scuppered by the Malian’s asking price. Palace are said to be holding out for around £70m, which is likely to be too expensive for Liverpool.
