Liverpool transfer target Cheick Doucoure played the full 90 minutes as Crystal Palace lost 1-0 to Arsenal on Monday evening.
The Reds are believed to have held talks about signing the Malian international but, after watching his performance at Selhurst Park, fans on Twitter are split on whether he would be a good addition to the squad:

He is a good player. But he is not a player worth more than 35-40 million👍

I watched the game last night. And him especially. Wasn’t to bad. But I’ve seen better. On that performance

Top top player 👏

He was so average. I swear most of the people desperate to bring him in don’t actually watch football.

Doucoure’s asking price is likely to be a big stumbling block
It was reported last month that Palace could demand as much as £70m for the 23-year-old, which is a sizeable fee for a player who has only had one full season in English football.
There are certainly cheaper alternatives on the transfer market and you would think that any move for Doucoure would only be considered if his valuation is lowered.
Liverpool may not pursue another holding midfielder before the transfer window shuts
There are some suggestions that the Reds have decided against recruiting a second specialised holding midfield player following the signing of Wataru Endo.
If that is true, it would certainly raise further doubts about the Merseyside club’s pursuit of Doucoure, and you can’t see it going down too well with supporters either.
Having Endo and youngster Stefan Bajcetic as the two recognised options in the no.6 position doesn’t fill you with a lot of hope that Liverpool can challenge for honours this season.
