Liverpool have “no immediate plans” to sign another midfielder, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a bid for Fluminense’s Andre when the transfer window reopens in the New Year but it is believed that Jurgen Klopp’s side are reluctant to go ahead with a move for the €35m (£30m) rated Brazilian as it might hamper the development of Stefan Bajcetic.
Fans on X are very sceptical about the club’s reasons for not going back in the market for a holding midfield player, especially as they bid £110m for Moises Caicedo in the summer:
Yet we bid over 100mil for a 6 a few months ago, makes no sense

Yet bid £100m+ just a few months ago for a No 6. Utter nonsense story.

What a joke, love bajcetic but he’s young and he’s had a couple of injuries this is just another example of FSG not spending

Bajcetic has had his fair share of injury problems
The 19-year-old picked up an adductor injury in March earlier this year, and he only returned to the matchday squad for the first time when Liverpool took on LASK Linz back in September.
However, after making his second appearance of the season in the win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup, Bajcetic was struck down with another muscular problem. It remains to be seen when he will return to action.
Andre could join another Premier League club
If Liverpool place their faith in Bajcetic despite his fitness issues and opt against signing Andre, the Brazilian may yet still end up playing in England.
The 22-year-old is also believed to be attracting interest from both Fulham and Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window.
