Liverpool have “made it clear” that they are “interested” in buying Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to 90min.com.
The website claims that the Reds could join Arsenal and Manchester City in pursuing the player’s signature if Villa are prepared to let him go.
Fans on X are divided on whether signing Luiz is a good idea. Although some believe he is a good player, there are questions about his suitability to play as a no.6 and whether he could be bought for an affordable price:
This is the kinda news I want to see. We need “Coutinho-esque” kinda techniques back in our midfield. 👏🔥

Villa won’t let Luiz leave without a fight
After the 2-1 win over Spurs at the weekend, Villans boss Unai Emery expressed his desire to “keep” the Brazilian international at Villa Park.
It is believed that Luiz’s asking price could be as high as £60m to ward off the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and City from making bids during the January transfer window.
What other midfielders could Liverpool target?
The Reds have been heavily linked with Fluminense’s Andre but it appears as if Jurgen Klopp’s side have cooled their interest in the player. Corinthians’ Gabriel Moscardo has also been mentioned, although he would likely be one for the future, rather than someone who is ready to be a first-team regular straight away.
Another South American based player, Boca Juniors’s Ezequiel Fernandez, has been suggested as an alternative, while Liverpool are said to be still keeping tabs on Nice’s Khephren Thuram too.
