‘Made A Disaster of A Decision’ ‘Dodged A Bullet’ Fans React As Agent Of Chelsea Star Makes Liverpool Transfer Admission

The agent of Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has admitted that the player could have joined a more “stable” club if he made the switch to Liverpool in the summer.

Even though the Reds had a £110m bid accepted by Brighton for the Ecuadorian, the player ultimately ended up moving to Stamford Bridge. Asked why that happened, his representative Manuel Sierra said:

“We’re talking about something really big, one of the best teams in the world, just like Chelsea. Well, with a more established and stable project than what Chelsea has today, which is a very ambitious project looking ahead to two years.

“So, when Liverpool comes and approaches you in that way, obviously Moises gets dizzy, I even get dizzy myself, and he says, ‘Man, we must be doing something right’, you know.”

“But Chelsea was by our side all along, asking us, not for much time, they were asking for an hour, I mean, just an hour, so that Brighton could tell them the conditions to match the offer.”

Chelsea ultimately trumped Liverpool as Caicedo sealed a £115m move to Stamford Bridge, but fans on X are not overly disappointed that the player ended up rejecting the Reds:

Liverpool were too late to the negotiating table

While the Merseyside club did go big with an offer for Caicedo, they had failed to get the player on side, with Sierra revealing that there was 2-month gap between May and August where there was no communication between the two parties.

That allowed Chelsea to move ahead in the race for the 21-year-old’s signature. The likely reason for the radio silence was that Liverpool didn’t believe they could afford Caicedo earlier in the summer. When they ultimately decided to pay a club-record fee, it was too late. The player had already had his heart set on a transfer to London.
