“It’s Too Early” – Club Chief Denies Reports That Danish Wonderkid Could Make PL Switch In January

Lecce sporting director Stefano Trinchera has confirmed that Liverpool transfer target Patrick Dorgu won’t be leaving the Italian club during the January transfer window.

The Danish Under 21 international has been scouted by the likes of the Reds and Manchester City. In interviews, the player has also admitted that he is a Chelsea fan and would consider a move to the Premier League. When asked by Pianeta Lecce about the left-back’s situation, Trinchera replied:

“Dorgu is making people talk about him and the more time passes, the more his value increases. In January, he will stay with us.”

“It’s too early to make considerations about the future, but Dorgu is now in the mouths of great European clubs. I won’t talk about the valuation of a boy who is growing day by day.”

Dorgu has turned heads since making his senior debut

The 19-year-old was believed to be on Liverpool’s radar even before he made his first appearance for Lecce against Como in a Coppa Italia back in August.

Dorgu came on for the injured Antonino Gallo in that game and provided an assist for Lecce’s winning goal. The defender has not looked back since then, having started four of the Serie A side’s first 12 league games.

Liverpool are looking at other left-backs

It appears as if the Reds’ are seeking options to strengthen the left-hand side of defence, as Dorgu is not the only young fullback who has been linked with a transfer to Anfield in recent weeks.

Boca Juniors’ Valentin Barco is also reportedly being watched by scouts, with first-team player Alexis Mac Allister having already tipped him as a star for the future.

If Liverpool do choose to go after Dorgu instead, though, they may have to wait until the end of the season to get him.
