Liverpool have “contacted” Real Sociedad about signing winger Takefusa Kubo, according to journalist SamC.
The United Stand and That’s Football! reporter claims he has been told that the Reds have stepped up their interest in the Japanese international, who has a €60m (£51m) release clause:

Fans on X are divided on whether Kubo would be a good signing, with some believing he is a huge talent, while others feel there are better players on the market, such as West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus:

Been wanting either him or Kudus. We need a young dedicated RW now.

Would rather go for Adeyemi or Kudus

Kubo’s form has dipped in recent months
The 22-year-old started the season in excellent form, scoring 5 goals in his first 7 league appearances. However, he has only hit the back of the net twice since then.
With Kubo still being a relatively young player, though, it is understandable that he is still rather inconsistent, but it does raise questions over whether it is worth triggering his buyout clause.
Liverpool won’t be the only team interested in the forward
Kubo’s former club Real Madrid don’t have a buyback option but they are reportedly considering bringing him back to the Bernabeu, just a couple of years after sanctioning his sale to Real Sociedad.
Some of Liverpool’s Premier League rivals, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle, have also been credited with an interest in the winger.
