Liverpool And Chelsea Among 5 Teams To Have ‘Targeted’ German Teenager Who Could Be Sold For ‘Decent Fee’

Liverpool are one of 5 clubs who have “targeted” Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko, according to Bild.

The German tabloid was reacting to claims made in Spain about Real Madrid’s interest when they mentioned that other “top clubs”, including the Reds, Chelsea, Juventus and Barcelona, are keeping tabs on the teenager.

Moukoko was on the Merseyside club’s radar before he signed a new contract with Dortmund at the start of this year, but Bild say that the Bundesliga giants are already prepared to sell the forward for “a decent fee”.

Real are reportedly lining up a €35m (£30m) to €40m (£35m) bid for the 18-year-old, as they look for a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

If Dortmund were to accept such an offer either in January or at the end of the season, there is a chance that Liverpool and other interested teams would match the proposal.

Why are Liverpool interested in Moukoko?

The German scored goals for fun at youth level, hitting the back of the net 90 times in 56 appearances for Dortmund’s Under 17s, as well as bagging 47 goals in 25 games for the Under 19s.

Moukoko hasn’t quite hit the same heights since he made his senior debut, scoring 17 goals in his first 77 matches for Dortmund’s first team.

However, the forward has only made 19 starts in total and many believe that, once he develops his game, he could be pretty prolific.

Don’t the Reds have enough forwards already?

With Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, Mo Salah, Luis Diaz and Ben Doak at his disposal, manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t exactly short of options up front.

However, if Moukoko is available for a relatively low transfer fee, it could be an opportunity that is too good to pass up.
