Tier 1 Journalist Confirms Liverpool Are “Very Interested” In Signing French Teenage Prodigy

Liverpool are “very interested” in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery, according to RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins.

The French journalist, who is usually very reliable, claims Jurgen Klopp’s side are one of a number of suitors for the 17-year-old:

Zaire-Emery is very highly rated by PSG, and he has already played 31 times for the first team, having made his senior debut for the Ligue One champions at the start of last season.

As Hawkins also mentions, the player has two years remaining on his contract at the Parc des Princes, with negotiations over an extension having not yet taken place, so there is a feeling that his club may need to consider offloading the player in the not too distant future.

Liverpool will face competition from Manchester City

The Reds will likely have to see off a number of different teams if they want to secure the France Under 19 international’s signature, including the reigning Premier League champions.

Hawkins claims that the citizens want Zaire-Emery to be included in a deal for Bernardo Silva, who would move in the other direction.

However, PSG are not interested in using the teenager in a swap deal due to his massive potential.

Borussia Dortmund have also looked into making an approach for Zaire-Emery as a potential replacement for Jude Bellingham but, again, it is expected that their offer for the player would be knocked back.

What other midfielders are Liverpool targeting?

With a move for Zaire-Emery looking unlikely, it seems as if the Reds will need to assess other options to reinforce their numbers in the middle of the park.

Nice’s Khephren Thuram continues to be heavily linked, while the likes of Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, Leeds’ Tyler Adams and Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga have also come under consideration.
