Liverpool Turn Attention Away From Serie A Star After Baulking At 54M Price Tag

Liverpool will not make a bid for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar during the January transfer window, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Reds were said to be considering a move for the Slovakian international last month but the 25-year-old’s €60m (£54m) asking price is believed to have put them off from making an offer.

Tottenham are the club who have most recently been linked with Skriniar, while Manchester United and Manchester City have also been mentioned as potential destinations over the past year or so.

Liverpool are thought to be considering moves for the likes of Schalke’s Ozan Kabak, Lille’s Sven Botman and Ajax’s Perr Schuurs, although some local journalists still maintain that the Premier League champions won’t be looking to strengthen their options at centre-half.

Joel Matip’s most recent injury may, however, force sporting director Michael Edwards into action when the transfer window opens at the start of next month.
