Liverpool Will Have To Smash Record Set By Arsenal As Bundesliga Side Demand 39M For French Midfield Enforcer

Liverpool could have to shell out €45m (£39m) if they want to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, according to reports in the German media.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the France Under 21 international in recent months but it appears he won’t be sold on the cheap.

Gladbach’s biggest ever sale was the £35m they received from Arsenal for Granit Xhaka in 2016, but it appears that they rate Kone at a higher amount.

The 21-year-old has been a regular starter in the Bundesliga this season, having made 11 appearances so far and picking up five yellow cards in the process.

Liverpool are examining a whole host of options as they look to strengthen their midfield but many of their top targets do play in Germany. In addition to Kone, both Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer are also said to be among the players being considered.
