“Major Concerns…” Journalist Claims Liverpool’s Game Against Chelsea Could Also Be Called Off

Liverpool could have a second Premier League fixture cancelled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, according to the Daily Telegraph journalist Ben Rumsby.

The Reds’ game against Wolves on Saturday was postponed but the trip to Chelsea next weekend is also in jeopardy due to policing issues. It is believed that, because of the Queen’s funeral, there won’t be a sufficient number of officers available to attend the match at Stamford Bridge:

If the Chelsea game is also called off, it means that Jurgen Klopp’s may have to wait until after the international break to play their next league fixture.

There aren’t expected to be any problems with the Champions League game versus Ajax at Anfield next week, but that may be Liverpool’s only match before October 1st when they face Brighton.

Considering the already packed fixture schedule, it could lead to a pile-up of games in the New Year for the Reds. With the Merseyside club in European action, the next available midweek date to reschedule postponed matches is thought to be January 17th.
