Manager Confirms “Interest” After Liverpool And Chelsea Are Both Linked With 32 Cap International Midfielder

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom has revealed that there is “interest” in Sander Berge from other teams.

Liverpool and Chelsea have both been credited with an interest in the Norwegian in recent days and, when asked about the rumours, Heckingbottom replied:

“I think there’s been interest, and there always is. You start to hear it before windows and things like that, but there have been no bids. All I can do is stress the same things. With the position we’ve got ourselves in, I don’t want anyone to leave. The landscape’s changed with where we are and what we’ve got. But from my point of view, if we’re embargoed, it’s even more important they don’t leave. My stance on that won’t change.”

As Heckingbottom mentions, the Blades are under a transfer embargo at the moment, so they wouldn’t be able to replace Berge if he was sold before the transfer window closes.

However, due to the financial situation, it is likely that the Championship side will sell up if a decent offer is made before Tuesday’s deadline.

Berge, who has been capped 32 times by Norway, is someone that manager Jurgen Klopp is known to be a big fan of, having praised him after a Champions League game a few years back. Whether that means the Merseysiders are lining up an offer in the coming days, though, we shall have to wait and see.
