Manchester City Vs Liverpool: Match Preview & Injury News

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be looking to give their campaign a shot in the arm as they take on Manchester City at the weekend – can the Reds stun the Sky Blues?

Liverpool are set to be without Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara and Joe Gomez for their game against the Citizens. That’s not all – Darwin Nunez and Kostas Tsimikas are also major doubts.

There is some good news on the injury front, though – long-injured Luis Diaz could finally make his return to first-team action in the game against City. It’s unlikely he’ll play the full game, given his lack of match sharpness, but Reds fans will be nevertheless pleased to see the Columbian dynamo back on the pitch – even if it is just for a cameo appearance.

The last time the two teams met in the Premier League, Liverpool defeated their rivals by a score of 1-0. After a dull, largely uneventful 75 minutes, Mohamed Salah made a darting run from deep to lob Ederson in the City goal – Pep Guardiola’s men failed to find a response.

Liverpool are currently sixth in the table, after a generally underwhelming campaign thus far. They have two games in hand over the team in 4th (Tottenham), but they are also seven points behind them.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are second in the Premier League table. Like Liverpool, they too have underwhelmed this season – as such, both outfits will be looking to make a statement on Saturday.
