Mane And Matip To Start And Origi Drops To The Bench: Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Chelsea

After a confident opening day win against Norwich City, Liverpool head into the European Super Cup final versus Chelsea in a positive mood. The same can’t be said of their opponents who suffered a humbling 4-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Frank Lampard’s side do tend to press high, and if the Reds’ defence is as open as it was against the Canaries, the Merseysiders may concede a fair few chances to their opponents in Istanbul. Saying that, Chelsea’s attacking approach will leave the door wide open for the likes of Mo Salah as well.

A high score is likely this evening unless the two managers opt for a more pragmatic approach with a trophy up for grabs. Liverpool will be without Naby Keita, though, who limped out of a training session last night.

Manager Jurgen Klopp could have selected the Guinean against the Blues, but it seems he may go with a tried and tested midfield of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum this evening.

Sadio Mane should be fit enough to start after playing 20 minutes against Norwich on Friday, with Divock Origi expected to be dropped to the bench.

In goal, Adrian will come in to deputise for the injured Alisson, while Klopp may look to give Joel Matip a run out ahead of Joe Gomez in the centre of defence.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Chelsea:

Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane
