Merson Picks Out Two Crystal Palace Players That ‘Have The Tools To Hurt’ Liverpool

TV pundit Paul Merson believes that Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend could cause Liverpool problems when the Reds face Crystal Palace tomorrow.

The former Arsenal midfielder thinks the pair’s speed and finishing ability could hurt the Merseysiders:

“It could be a problem for Liverpool. Palace have the tools to hurt them. They’ve got major pace and match-winners in Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha.

Townsend certainly showed against Manchester City that he is a huge threat with his long-range shooting, and Liverpool’s defenders would be wise to close him down early outside the box.

With Zaha, the Ivory Coast international is always capable of doing something special with his dribbling ability. Whoever plays right-back for the Reds will have to be careful to stay on their feet and not give a penalty away by lunging in.

Still, the pair have scored just eight goals between them in all competitions this season, providing five assists. No doubt, manager Jurgen Klopp will be mindful of their threat on the counter-attack but he’ll be confident that he can starve the wingers of the ball.
